"Self-Care Unlocked by Oracles — Deciphering Spiritual Practices through a Feminist Lens —" is coming up 🔮

Creative Studio koko is pleased to host our 9th "koko no me"🌱 event.

"koko no me" is a space for people involved in "creating and delivering" to exchange their unique ideas, perspectives, and emotions. It is a place to explore pathways toward the world we want to live in from where we stand right now, and to empower one another.

Our theme is "What we want to talk about right now." We host events with guest speakers and publish articles covering topics such as the planning process and background of creative production, work environments, our engagement with society, and what we can do to make a difference 🤍

The theme for our 9th event is "Self-Care Unlocked by Oracles — Deciphering Spiritual Practices through a Feminist Lens —"

In recent years, along with a growing interest in self-care and well-being, "fortune-telling/divination"—such as tarot and oracle cards—has been re-evaluated not as a mere way to predict the future, but as a tool for self-understanding and dialogue.

Such practices function as contemporary self-care and creative support by "giving words and images to our inner selves," "translating personal inquiries into forms that can be shared with others," and "circulating care within a community."

Particularly within the context of feminist and queer culture, divination has been passed down as a "practice for trusting one's own senses," distancing itself from authoritative "correct answers." In this event, starting from the creative practice of artist Azy, who creates oracle cards, we will explore the role divination plays in modern lifestyles and creative activities through talks and workshops. We aim to redefine practices that tend to be boxed into the term "fortune-telling" as a more open space for dialogue and creation.

ー

Event Purpose

  • To re-envision divination as a practice that supports self-care and creativity.
  • To visualize the intersection of art and spirituality through the specific practice of oracle card creation.
  • To share the meaning of "trusting your own senses" through dialogue that incorporates feminist and queer perspectives.
  • To create a community space where participants can connect loosely with one another.

We look forward to seeing you if you are: 👀

  • Someone involved in creative work such as art, design, editing, or writing.
  • Someone interested in self-care and well-being.
  • Someone interested in fortune-telling, tarot, or oracle cards and would like to rethink them as a practice.
  • Someone interested in feminism or queer culture.
