Considering "Consent" in Creative Fields: How to Create a Safe and Secure Environment
"Considering 'Consent' in Creative Fields: How Do We Create a Safe and Secure Environment?" Event Held! 🌱
Creative Studio koko will host its 3rd Koko-no-me🌱 event. "Koko-no-me" is a place for people involved in "creating and delivering" to explore pathways to the world we wish to live in, starting from where we are now, by exchanging diverse thoughts, perspectives, and emotions, and to empower each other.
The theme is "What We Want to Talk About Now." We discuss creative production and expression, including the planning process, production background, working environment, and our connection to society and what we can do. We host events with guests and publish articles 🤍

The third event's theme is "Considering Consent in Creative Fields."
With the spread of the #MeToo movement that began in the United States in 2017, it became clear in Japan that practices previously considered "normal" in creative fields, including film and television dramas, had harmed the dignity of actors and crew members.
To create a safer and more secure production environment for actors and crew members, the process of "consent" is essential.
However, what exactly does "obtaining consent" refer to?
In what situations is consent necessary?
At what stage can it be said that "consent has been obtained?"
Providing clear answers to these questions is not easy, and many production sites still face challenges.
At this event, we will welcome Chiho Asada, a leading intimacy coordinator, to discuss these questions.
An intimacy coordinator acts as an intermediary between actors and producers in scenes involving physical contact or nudity, protecting the actor's safety and dignity.
We will learn about the actual roles they play on set and consider how we can build "safety and security" in creative fields.
We hope this will be an opportunity to collaboratively consider the future of production environments.
